The Ward 13 Off-Sales campaign launched on October 26th 2009 and is a one year campaign covering the areas of Yoker, Garscadden and Scotstounhill working with local Off-Sales to address the issue of under-age drinking.
Aims
• Reduce the accessibility of alcohol by under 18s through the promotion of responsible sales practice within Off-Sales and the targeting of 'agents' who purchase alcohol on behalf of under 18s as identified through 'The Ripple Effect: Alcohol and Communities Survey'
• Underpinning the campaign will be sign-posting to diversionary activities which aim to provide alternatives to the use of alcohol
• Promote community involvement and ownership of the issue of underage drinking through the 'Alcohol in my life' dvd
• Complement the 'Greater Glasgow and Clyde Alcohol and Drug Prevention and Education Model'
• Sign-posting to diversionary activities for young people
• 'No matter what your reason...' poster which will target 'agents' who purchase alcohol on behalf of young people
• Staff guidelines and refusal book
• 'Alcohol in my life' dvd
• Reduction in the sale of alcohol to under 18s in areas where the campaign is operating
• Increased confidence of staff to challenge/refuse agents or young people
• Increased attendance at diversionary activities in the area
• A decrease in alcohol related anti-social behaviour
